There is a need for a textbook that deals with Asian American health from a public health perspective. This groundbreaking book examines and explains the many preventable conditions (heart disease, diabetes, and cancer among them) and how working with the cultures of the various groups can improve their health and well-being. It explores the diversity within the Asian community with respect to health seeking behavior and knowledge, socioeconomic status, educational level, cultural traditions, and specific health care needs and issues. The book is edited by the Center for Asian American Health.
